Christmas is just around the corner, couples and families are definitely in a holiday mode, searching for places to relax and spend quality time with their loved ones.

While out of town trips are a good idea, some choose to spend their holidays within Manila to maximize on food, shopping and gas.

We visited the luxurious Armada Hotel conveniently located in Manila and just half an hour away from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). It is also a 12-minute walk from the nearest train station.

It is located in the culturally rich district of Malate, Manila. There are different attractions accessible from Armada Hotel that cater to vacationers. Families can enjoy a nice stroll or picnic at Rizal Park, also known as Luneta Park just two kilometers away. Nearby places to visit are the National Museum of the Philippines, the historic walled city of Intramuros, and the National Library of the Philippines for bookworms. The Star City amusement park and Manila Ocean Park are also nearby.

Checking out the hotel showed it was clean and well-polished. The rooms were spacious. There were flat-screen TVs, free wi-fi, and Bluetooth speakers. The minibar had ample supply of tea and coffee, plus a coffeemaker. The suites had living areas and kitchenettes. The bathroom had a tub and a rainfall showerhead. It also contained toiletries for two.

As for the amenities, guests can have a nice photo-op for their social media accounts on the rooftop terrace, or enjoy a nice dip on the outdoor pool. There is a gym for those who wish to do some exercise. There are spa treatment rooms for different kinds of massage, provided according to the client's preference: Swedish massage, Royal Thai massage, Hot Lava Stone massage, and the traditional Filipino "Hilot." Anyone will definitely walk out that spa room feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Food won't be an issue as its café-restaurant at the ground floor is open for snacks and pastries. The room rates offer a complimentary breakfast buffet for two that serves our favorite Filipino and American breakfast. But guests and other foodies can also walk in and enjoy their delicious (and very Instagrammable) dishes. The a la carte menu consists of seafood, meat, and poultry dishes. The a la carte menu consists of seafood, meat and poultry dishes. It also varies from classic Filipino and Asian dishes as well as pasta, pizza, salads, and desserts.

Along with their very attentive staff and crew, it's perfect for both business and leisure travelers.

The Armada Hotel Manila is able to provide its guests the break and relaxation one needs without having to break the bank. [K]
